People all over Australia are feeling the pinch of surging power costs, with many households paying large amounts of their income to meet energy bills. This is felt the most by poorer households, who find themselves paying around 10 per cent of their disposable income. Some researchers say this is having a terrible impact on health and causing many people to feel isolated.

Energy poverty is a world-wide problem and while some research for Australia exists, experts say a deeper understanding is needed.
