Emirates create competition for Australian airlines

The announcement today that Emirates will be offering direct flights from Adelaide to the Middle East from November this year could create greater problems for the already troubled Qantas.

With a forecast loss of four hundred and fifty million dollars from the international division, Qantas seems to be in a tight spot with its new competition from abroad – but it’s not expected to collapse Ansett-style anytime soon. Even though the demand from foreign airlines seems to be increasing – especially with the Emirates announcement – we cannot predict what the future has in store for Australian international airlines. Aviation experts however warn that they need to be cautious.
