Get ready for the battle of the catch-phrases, as what will be the longest election campaign period in five cycles begins. Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull and Opposition Leader Bill Shorten have hit the campaign trail, battling it out for the top job. Shorten is saying he’ll put people first, with an advertisement for the labor party promising to invest in education, keep medicare and protect penalty rates. Turnbull says he will commit to a national economic plan for growth and jobs. In a campaign advertisement for the liberal party, he says that their economic plan would see 200,000 new jobs from 2016 to 2017. But are their messages resonating with the public?
