On 26 February this year the Senate referred an inquiry into domestic violence with particular regard to violence against women and their children to the Legal and Constitutional Affairs References Committee for report by 13 August 2020.

The report – prompted by the death of Hannah Clarke and her children – was delivered three months in advance without the committee accepting submissions or holding public hearings.

Centre Alliance Senator Rex Patrick has criticised the Senate Committee for failing to combat domestic violence in Australia.
