Doctors needed to follow up intervention health checks

Good or bad, the intervention into communities has meant that lots of children have had their health checked out, whereas before there just weren’t enough doctors and nurses to go around. The Australian Medical Association is today saying that checking is not enough – it needs to be followed up with more feet on the ground, more health professionals in communities fixing up those health issues. AMA president Rosanna Capolingua says unless structures and funding are put in place the flow of altruistic doctors volunteering their time to work out in communities will soon start to dry up.
