Detainees could have mobile phones confiscated under proposed amendments

A new Bill to go before Australian Parliament to prohibit mobile phones in immigration detention has raiesed serious concerns among refugees and human rights advocates. They say it  seeks to fix a problem that doesn’t exist and violates international rules, and that mobile phones are essential for detainees’  mental health and connection to community .
