Volunteering contributes significantly to the cultural and economic quality of life in Australia.

The most recent report by the ABS (2006) valued voluntary work at about $43 billion, with a third of Australians contributing in some manner.

National Volunteers Week recognises this huge contribution to society, and this year in place of morning teas and local ceremonies, Volunteering Australia is encouraging people to Wave for Volunteers.
