Controversy stirring in Australia’s food bowl

A three year battle to save the region known as Australia’s food bowl from a mining company achieved a significant victory recently, with protesters dismantling a barricade around a house previously set to be destroyed. The fight is just beginning however, with BHP Billiton and various Caroona action groups embroiled in a vicious struggle to gain control of the land. Tim Duddy, spokesperson for Caroona Coal Action group and Carol Mackerras, spokesperson for SOS Liverpool Plains caught up with The Wires’ Dominic Geiger.
