This week, the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare released a report stating that around 600 Australians died of mesothelioma in 2018. Despite all the efforts for banning asbestos in Australia, the number of Australians with the condition is increasing. Support groups and advocates are concerned of a potential third wave of Australians with mesothelioma due to the building and the home renovation industries not being aware of asbestos in buildings across Australia.

The Asbestos Disease Support Society is urging Australians in these industries to research about the condition and protect themselves from breathing asbestos.
