High-profile names have today thrown their support behind Mahmoud Sarsak – a 25 year old Gazan footballer being held without charge in an Israeli jail. Sarsak has been on hunger strike for the past three months and his condition is now critical. Left-wing critic Noam Chomsky and French football legend Eric Cantona are amongst those appealing for his release, but the Israelis are yet to change their position. Under special Israeli security law, Sarsak may be held indefinitely.
