The NRL and some prominent AFL identities have lashed out against the Federal Government’s plan to introduce betting limits before playing the pokies. Collingwood president, Eddie McGuire, has likened the proposal for pre-commitment technology to a “footy tax” which would hurt sporting groups. The Wire looks at evidence from Norway, and from gambling reform advocates who say sporting groups concerned about the reforms are exaggerating.
