A community group with support from the Environmental Defenders Office has gone to court to fight a coal seam gas development approval. Residents in the Gloucester-Valley in New South Wales say the impact coal seam gas could have on the environment has not been properly assessed and so the development should not be allowed to go ahead. The approval was granted to AGL earlier this year. This is the first time a coal seam gas approval has been challenged in New South Wales and it could set a precedent for the future.
