Christmas Island detention re-opens amid pandemic pressure

The Australia Border Force this week announced it will move immigration detainees from across Australia into the re-opened immigration detention facility at North West Point on Christmas Island in the coming weeks.
The organisation reports that required COVID-19 distancing measures in place within the detention network are placing it under pressure.
But, refugee supporters say there are better, safer and cheaper alternatives.
