China urged to “tell the truth on torture” at UN review

Human Rights Watch is calling on China to be truthful when it faces the UN Committee Against Torture in Geneva next week. The organisation has published a report on torture in China, finding it remains routine in criminal detention facilities, and wants China to take action to end it. Maya Wang from Human Rights Watch told The Wire about the UN review, and why Human Rights Watch believes China isn’t being candid with the committee.
