It is not the first time Chile has been struck by an earthquake, but it might be one of the strongest the South American country has experienced since 2005 (Image by Patrick McDonald on Flickr)

Yesterday, a magnitude 8.3 earthquake took by surprise Chile. More than 1 million people have been evacuated and the Chilean government is assessing the damage. Chilean communities worldwide have raised concerns about their family and friends, and the community in Australia is not the exception.
