Chevron has abandoned plans to drill for oil in the Great Australian Bight, angering South Australia’s Minister for Mineral Resources and Energy, Treasurer Tom Koutsantonis.

Mr Koutsantonis accused Chevron of “wasting everyone’s time” and characterised the decision as “extremely disappointing”.

This announcement comes as Chevron has announced plans to explore for gas in Western Australia earlier this month.
