Carbon farming a boost for Indigenous employment

Support for Indigenous jobs and land management are set to increase after the first successful sale of carbon credit units. The Indigenous Land Corporation sold more than half- a- million-dollars worth of carbon credits to oil refiner Caltex Australia earlier this month.

The Fish River Fire Project involves controlled savannah burning on the banks of the Daly River, south west of Darwin. It’s the first project to sell Indigenous carbon credits on the open market as part of the Indigenous Carbon Farming Initiative.
