Calls for reform to deal with violence in group homes

There have been calls for national regulation of support workers after evidence of abuse reported at a public hearing of a senate inquiry violence in group homes in Sydney yesterday. Heidi Egarter told the inquiry she was advised to lock her room at night to avoid being raped by one of the residents. In June the inquiry was in Melbourne and heard similar stories.
