Sydney may be set to get a new museum, after calls for a historical exhibition on the struggle for equal rights to be made permanent.

The Sydney Mardi Gras Museum has opened up on the famous Oxford Street, showcasing the history of Mardi Gras in Sydney. The museum contains exhibits from the original gay solidarity movement that started the celebration, to the colourful costumes we know of today. Many young gay and lesbian people have enjoyed the opportunity to find out more about the history of the struggle to gain recognition and equality throughout the 70s. …And there is now a push for the museum to become a permanent part of Sydney.
