A 2012 public services survey found that the incidence of bullying in the workplace needed immediate attention within the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions and across the NSW public sector. There are now calls for fundamental nation-wide changes to the way law firms are run and the overall legal culture.

Australian lawyers are at the top of the list in terms of incidence of depression. In the last seven months, a high profile Sydney barrister and two lawyers from the NSW Director of Public Prosecutions committed suicide.
