A cruise liner made an unscheduled stop in the prod of Eden just before the weekend to evict a troublesome family of 23.

It has been alleged that many members of the family were starting fights on the ship.

So with so many cruise ships now in Australian waters,  what is the legal situation for people detained and what protection do passengers have?
