Avengers: Dog-Game. The Heroic Hounds Saving Australia’s Vulnerable Insects

While it’s fair to say most people’s heart melt any time they see a dog in the street, sniffer dogs don’t seem to get the same love as their unemployed counterparts. But a new type of nasally inclined pooch are proving you can teach an old dog new tricks.

The Alpine Stonefly is one of many endangered insects in Australia, and the Centre for Freshwater Ecosystems at La Trobe university is working with three super-dogs to find them, and hopefully learn more about how we can save these mysterious insects from extinction.
