Australia faces a considerable challenge in the wake of the mining boom: how and where do we find new sources of growth to keep our economy growing? A Senate inquiry says innovation is fundamental to Australia’s growth and our preparedness for emerging social, economic and environmental challenges. However the Inquiry has found we are seriously lagging behind OECD countries when it comes to innovation and the effects on our economy are wide ranging. So what does Australia need to do to attract new investment in innovation to secure the high skill, high wage jobs and industries we so desperately need?
