The actions of Australian mining companies in Africa have been exposed in a report by the Center for Public Integrity and the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists. The report, Dangerous Extraction, was written in collaboration with African journalists and shows that many Australia mining companies are not employing adequate safety standards in the mines, are implicated in the actions of repressive governments and fail to implement environmental protection measures. The report is critical of the silence on this issue in Australia.
