With fond memories of the 2000 Sydney Olympics and the 2015 Asian Cup still fresh in our minds, Australia could soon be hosting another spectacular world event. The Australian Federal Government today announced their official bid to host the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

The event would cast a spotlight on women’s professional football in Australia.

Despite the positive nature of the international bid, experts believe there also needs to be more focus on women’s domestic football.
