‘Unicorn food’ – not the meal of a mythical creature, but the latest in many food trends taking social media and the United States by storm.

This brightly coloured, sparkly experience is yet to hit Australian shores, but it may be only a matter of time if other food trends are anything to go by.

Sam Sifton is the New York Times food editor, he was in Australia recently and caught up with The Wire to talk food trends, good coffee and his least favourite words to describe food.
