Should Australians be taxed more for alcohol? The Foundation for Alcohol Research and Education is calling on the Federal Government to increase all alcohol excises by 10 per cent. They also want more equitable taxation across all alcoholic beverage sectors. According to the foundation, increasing the alcohol tax would reduce consumption rates, and deliver a $2.9 billion revenue boost to the budget. But not all industry sectors are on board.
