Tony Abbott has reaffirmed his intention to drop a part of the Racial Discrimination Act. Columnist Andrew Bolt was prosecuted under the act, and Tony Abbott says that defenders of free speech should also defend Andrew Bolt’s right to free speech. He says that a ”hurt feelings” test is impossible to comply with while maintaining the fearless pursuit of truth. Some journalists have also expressed concerns about the law, and say that it should be changed.
