Heavy police presence and sniffer dogs at popular music festivals have become ineffective in reducing drug-related deaths among festival-goers, following the fatal overdose of a 24-year-old man at a Sydney music event over the weekend.

There are calls for pill-testing to be conducted in NSW as an alternative to discourage drug use at music festivals and to prevent further drug-induced deaths from occurring.
