More than 100 people from varying cultures and ages have been interviewed about their lives when they were 21.

Their stories are vastly different, but also convey a similarity of human experience that opens up an understanding of the world.

21: Memories of Growing Up is a project by Swiss artist Mats Staub, who has travelled the world collecting these stories for six years, and then presenting them in an immersive touring exhibition.

The Wire spoke with Mats Staub at the 2018 Adelaide Festival.
